What is Canada Express Entry Draw?

The Canada Express Entry Draw is an initiative under the Express Entry Program.

The Express Entry Program is an immigration program that is points-based, for professionals looking to relocate to Canada.

This program gives points to the potential immigrants, based on their skills, experience, Canadian employment status, and provincial/territorial nomination.

The more points you have, the more likely you are to receive an invitation to apply (ITA) for a Permanent Residency in Canada. We are experts in providing Canadian immigration and can assist you with every step in your immigration process.

Applicants who meet the eligibility requirements for Express Entry can submit an Expression of Interest in the Express Entry pool (EOI). The Canadian government holds an Express Entry draw, ranks candidates based on their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, and invites them to apply for permanent residence

What are the Types of Express Entry Draws?

Canada Express Entry Draw was introduced in 2015 where Immigration applications are being accepted for three federal immigration programs:

  • Federal Skilled Worker (FSW),
  • Federal Skilled Trades (FST), and
  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

How does Express Entry work?

  1. Create an Express Entry Profile
  2. Submit your Profile in Express Entry Pool
  3. Receive an Invitation to Apply (Express Entry Draw)
  4. Apply for Canada PR

How can my profile get shortlisted in an Express Entry Draw?

The large percentage of Express Entry draws place emphasis on the applicant’s Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. As a result, after you have submitted your Express Entry profile to the pool, you should look into any and all options for improving your CRS score ranking within the pool.

What is the lowest CRS score that can be accepted in an Express Entry Draw?

Each Express Entry draw has a different lowest accepted CRS score. Since the introduction of the Express Entry system in 2015, the lowest CRS score ever accepted has been 75. This was from a CEC Draw held in February 2021.
The lowest CRS score obtained in an all-program draw aimed at Federal Skilled Workers was 413.

What is the expected CRS score in 2021?

Before determining the expected CRS Score, you should understand how an individual wins the Express Entry Draw for Canada PR.

  • The maximum score in the CRS system is 1200 points.
  • A cut-off score is announced for each Express Entry draw.
  • The Canadian government invites to apply (ITA) for a PR visa to those who have a CRS score higher than the cut-off.
  • Applications with a CRS score of less than 450 may be at risk and in that case, you might need a PNP nomination to get through.
  • The estimated minimum CRS score points may fall even further if the demand for skilled workers remains high and the number of applications for permanent residency falls.

The majority of applicants expected to be issued ITAs in 2021 are expected to have a CRS score of around 470 points, allowing a significant number of applicants to gain permanent admission to Canada without a job offer or nomination under a provincial immigration program.

Canada Express Entry Draw – Tie Breaking Rule

The IRCC employs a tie-breaking rule to control the number of ITAs issued in each draw. Under this, the individuals are ranked in order of when their Express Entry profiles were added to the Express Entry pool.
This translates that the tie-breaking rule gives preference to candidates who have been in the Express Entry pool for a longer period of time.

In each Draw, how many profiles are chosen?

Each Express Entry draw does not select a fixed number of Express Entry Profiles.
The number of profiles chosen in each draw is determined by the number of candidates in the pool, the quality of the candidates in the pool, and the needs of the Canadian labor market at the time of the draw.

Canada Express Entry Draw Prediction

The Canadian government holds an Express Entry draw every 15 days or so.
Using the last five years’ draw timelines and recent draw dates, we can predict that the next draw will be held on or before September 15th, 2021.
The IRCC (Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada) has recently been conducting the Express Entry draw date on a fortnightly basis, which is about every 15 days.
The frequency of 15 days may vary, but at least two express entry draws take place each month.

What should you do if your profile was chosen in an Express Entry Draw?

If your profile is chosen in an Express Entry Draw, you will be sent an Invitation to Apply (ITA). You will have 60 days after receiving an ITA to submit a full Application for Permanent Residence (PR).

Will Canada do FSW draws in 2021?

We’ve seen relatively fewer Federal Skilled Worker invitation rounds since the pandemic began. IRCC simply has shifted its focus to immigration candidates who are already temporarily residing in Canada.

There are three main reasons why this is happening:

  • Considering the pandemic, it is safer not to bring in new immigrants at this time.
  • Temporary residents can help you recover faster.
  • PNPs are required to meet the demands of specific provinces.

However, the Federal Skilled Worker draws are expected to take place and the pandemic is the primary cause of the pause. The consensus is that once the pandemic has been contained, FSW draws will resume.

How To Apply for Express Entry to Canada?

Before applying for Express Entry, you must qualify by earning 67 or more points on a 100-point scale.

There is a selection factor that evaluates and assigns an overall score out of 100 to Express Entry applicants.

If you receive more than 67 points, you may be eligible for the Federal Skilled Worker Program.

If your score is less than 67, you will not be eligible for the program.
